There are many ways to get involved with SOY, such as being a participant, a volunteer, a student, or a mentor. We also accept donations to support our work.
SOY participants
We’ll support your goals, strengths, resourcefulness and success through our programs and services.
Our free programs and services support the health and well-being of 2SLGBTQ young people 29 years old and under, including those who are questioning their sexual and/or gender identities.
SOY volunteers
Volunteers are members from our communities who donate their time and experience to supporting 2SLGBTQ young people at SOY with achieving their goals.
We recruit volunteers who represent the full diversity of our queer and trans communities and have similar lived experiences to our service users.
Volunteers support SOY with mentoring, event volunteering, and helping out at the SOY Bowlathon.
SOY students
We work with several students each year to meet the needs and goals of the 2SLGBTQ youth and young adults in our programs and services.
When we look at applications, we consider the learning goals of the student’s program; the time of year; the availability of supervisory staff; and the match between the student’s lived experience and those of our 2SLGBTQ young people.
We have three student placement streams:
- Group and individual support students
- Health promotion students
- Special projects students
